The Custom Sort Order feature allows you to modify the order in which items appear on the kiosk. This is especially helpful to get rid of idle inventory, or to prioritize floor models and in-stock items. The custom sort order is being determined by uploading a CSV file to the platform.

Follow the steps below to create a Custom Sort Order of your items.

Instructions

1. Create a CSV file that has the following format:

  • The first row should have the column headings "BRAND", "SKU", and the optional heading "RANK" if it will be used. Refer to the section at the end of this article to learn more about the two options.
  • The first item should be in the second row.
  • Each item should have its own row.
  • All products must be present in the product database.

Example of a CSV file

PLEASE NOTE: See the Detailed Information About the CSV File section at the end of this article for more information on formatting and the use of the optional RANK value.

2. Save the CSV file on your computer.

NOTE: Now that the CSV file has been created, it will need to be uploaded to your account in the Catalog App Manager (CAM). Follow the steps below to upload the CSV file.

3. Click Content on the header bar and click Products from the drop-down menu.

4. Click the Import Custom Sort Order button.

5. Click the Choose File button to select the CSV from your local drive.

6. Select the CSV file from Step 2 and click the Open button.

7. Ensure the CSV Has Header Row box is checked and click the Upload button.

NOTE: The CSV Has Header Row box is checked by default. If it does not have a checkmark, click the box.

8. Select the fields from the drop-down menu to match the CSV columns.

NOTE: If the Rank column is not being used, select "Ignore column" from the drop-down menu for the Rank column.

9. Click the box to verify that you understand that Importing a custom sort order will overwrite existing custom ordering for all products and click the Import button.

NOTE: Now that the CSV file is uploaded, it needs to be enabled on the devices or device groups of your choice before it will appear.

10. Click Devices on the header bar and click the Settings button located in the Device Groups section. If you wish to make the change to only one device, click the device name and apply it directly on device level.

11. Scroll down and click Advanced Configuration and select "Custom sort order" in the Product Sorting and Product Secondary Sorting options.

12. Scroll to the top of the screen and click the Save Changes button.

NOTE: The devices will not show the Custom Sort Order automatically. Devices will need to be synced to show the update. Follow the next step to manually sync the devices.

12. Click Devices on the header bar and click the Sync all devices button to update your devices with the new Custom Sort Order.

Once the devices have synced, when your guests browse items, they will be sorted by the Custom Sort Order. The Custom Sort Order in the app is called Best Sellers.

Detailed Information About the CSV File

Overview

The Custom Sort Order CSV file allows you to create a Custom Sort Order that is determined based on how the file is filled out. There are two ways to rank items. Either by their row position in the spreadsheet, or by using a RANK value.

  • The BRAND and SKU values are required.
  • The RANK value is optional.
  • All products must be present in the product database.

Option A: Not Using the Rank Value

If the rank value is not being used then the products will be listed in the order they are documented in the .csv file. The RANK heading in the template will need to be deleted so that only the BRAND and SKU headings are present.

Sample .csv file

BRAND, SKU
Furniture Company, 7990026
Furniture Company, 1990126
Furniture Company, 5780204

The resulting Custom Sort Order would be:

Furniture Company 7990026
Furniture Company 1990126
Furniture Company 5780204

Option B: Using the Rank Value

If the rank value is being used then the products will be listed in ascending order based on the rank value. The same rank value can be used more than once. If the rank value is being used then the rank value cannot be left blank for any of the items or the file will be rejected.

Sample .csv file

BRAND, SKU, RANK
Furniture Company, 7990026, 2
Furniture Company, 1990126, 1
Furniture Company, 5780204, 3

The resulting Custom Sort Order would be:

Furniture Company 1990126
Furniture Company 7990026
Furniture Company 5780204
